In Santa's Defence

In Santa’s defence the kids list read ‘velociraptor’, not ‘toy velociraptor’ Tell the story (as a story or poem)
The Story:
In Santa's defence this child did not classify. Santa may be smart but he's not a genius. Santa was not supposed to know wheter he wanted a toy or the real thing, and seeing the age of this child he wouldn't have a clue. Before you blame Santa for bringing the population of the velociraptor back to earth you need to know the facts.

King of Excuses

Why your late to class:
I hurt myself,
I didn't hear the bell,
I had to do a job,
I had to get a ball from the back of the field,
My friend got hurt and I needed to help him.

Why your homework isn't done:
The dog ate it,
I lost it,
My parents threw it out,
I wasn't feeling well,
My little brother ate it,
I was absent that day,
My laptop wasn't working.

Questions you hate answering:
I think I need to go,
My Mum's calling me got to go,
Change the topic,
Did you hear about what happened before,

Why you shouldn't do sport:
I'm injured,
It's too hot,
I might hurt myself,
I don't want to get sunburn,

Poem of Excuses:
I shouldn't do sport,
My dog ate my book,
I'm going to cook,
If you let me off this one time,
I might burn from the sunshine.

Horror Camping Trip

This Short Story is about if  You and your three closest friends decide to go camping. You arrive and set up camp nearly three miles away from where you left your car. Late that evening, as you sit around the campfire roasting marshmallows, one of your friends reveals a deep dark secret that turns what was to be a fun weekend into one of the scariest weekends of your life.

This is my Short Story:
So last weekend Myself, Michael, Austin and Logan went camping at a camp site just outside of Christchurch. We arrived but had to park about three miles away from were we set up. About an hour and a half later we were all set up and decided to start a fire and have some Marshmallow's. The out of nowhere Austin tells us that for the past week he has been having nightmares about Pennywise from the IT series. Then he goes and says that the day before he was making a salad and in the corner of the room he saw Pennywise with a red balloon. That freaked us out then out of nowhere a Red Balloon floats out of a bush. We were so scared we fan about a mile but stopped near a tree stump so we could sit down. Then out of nowhere they hear someone say "You'll Float Too, You'll Float Too" over and over. We all quickly turn around and find Pennywise just standing there. We all hit the boost running about two miles to finally finding our car. We all hopped in a I drove the fastest I ever have, I'm surprised I didn't get a speeding ticket.

Unexpected Wealth

Today in English I have been working on this piece of writing. It is about I'm clearing out a garage and I find a box that is heavier that it should be. He opens it and find 40,000 in cash exactly. He finds out who put it there and why they put it there. This is the story,

The other day I was clearing out the garage like any normal person would and I found this strange looking cardboard box. I lifted it up and this box was heavier than it should of been. This box was taped up so I opened it and found a surprising 40,000 dollars. I was so surprised, then I got to thinking about who put it there.  Then I remembered my Great Granddad. When I was a little lad my Great Granddad gave all my family some money when he got ill. He passed a few weeks later and my theory is that he didn't get to spend much time with me so he gave me more money that the other.

Free Writing:Creative Writing Matrix

In English I chose a task were I had to do Free Writing. I was kind of inspired by Stranger Things but I made up most of the Facts. This is my piece of Free Writing:

One day in the city of Miami there was a lad named Jonathan. He loved to play basketball. He was influenced by his father to play basketball. His father was a very successful ball player in college, but unfortunately one day before the NBA Draft where he was expected to be number one pick he was playing street ball went for a dunk slipped and landed on his neck. Basically he snapped his neck and could never play basketball again. He is fully recovered now days but enough of that. Jonathan is a big Miami Heat fan, it is quite self explanatory. His favourite time being a Heat fan was when they had LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Most days he goes down and plays streetball. He also has a day job where he works everyday except Sundays. He works at Subway. He is a great employee except when he gets caught stealing the cookies. He makes a good amount of money and lives a healthy life. But one day that all changed, his brother went missing. He spent about four days looking for him but then there was this guy called Steve. This guy Steve was making fun of how Jonathan’s brother went missing and Jonathan just snapped. Jonathan bet the living life out of Steve and his whole face was pouring with blood. He had to go to the Police Office and got Sentenced for 3 months but his Mom couldn't handle that having no of her kids so she bailed him out. About a Week later his Brother was found ad his life went back to normal. A few months later he got a call from the president of Miami Heat basketball asking him to be a part of the team. Take it the end of his 14 year career, he had 2 MVP’s, 13 All-Star and 5 Championship Rings under his Belt. He is one of the most Successful Miami Heat players in history.

SEXXXY Paragraph

Night
Other world,
Other Wybie,
Cant talk,
Mother & Coraline
going into the house,
Just seen circus,
POV of other Mother,
Wants him to smile,
Unhappy,
Warm Light
High angle makes Wybie vulnerable,
Dark colours but bright because Coraline dosent know what the world is really about,
Facial expression,
Sad because his mouth has gone down and his eyebrows are arched in fear.

In the film Coraline high angle shots are used effectively to establish a characters position of power. This is demonstrated in the scene where Coraline and Wybie return from visiting their neighbors. A high angle shot from from the POV of the other mother looking down the stairs towards Wybie makes him look vulnerable. This makes us understand that the other mother has all the power and might not be as kind as Coraline thinks at this point. The purpose of this is to show a character who is unhappy in the other world and foreshadow the horrific turn of events later in the story. Combined with the use of facial expressions, Wybie's mouth is frowning and his eyebrows are arched in in fear, the idea of being vulnerable is enhanced. This aspect can be compared to Coralines battle with the other mother at the end of the film where we see the true evil nature of the Beldam.

Themes of the Film

I did a Mind Map on Coggle about one of the themes. The theme I chose was her parents Ignoring her. This is my Coggle,
  • What am I learning?
Understanding the ideas and Themes in Films
  • How does this work show my learning?
It shoes my Ideas on how I think she was ignored by her parents.
  • What am I wondering as a result of this learning?
Nothing at this point.
