This and last term in DTE we have been researching and planning on making our Venduino powered mini vending machine. For the wood cutout, we are going to be using a Laser Cutter. But we have been struggling with transferring the Files we need to the laser cutter programs so we looked up a picture on the internet but then we had to remove the watermark. We are still yet to cut the wood and haven't even started the Venduino program. This is our Planning, Files, and logbook.

Project Title: Arduino Vending Machine

Materials List:

Brief/ Research: We are going to be making a mini tabletop vending machine that will be powered by an Arduino code. We are making this because we saw a video on how to make it and we thought it looked cool.

Development Log:   20/08 We have been researching different ideas for our arduino project.  21/08 We still kept researching. 27/08 We have decided to choose between a robotic arm and vending machine 28/08 Our group chose to work on the vending machine 3/09 We researched the video and projects involving arduino, Trys arduinoing to the 4/09 Got onto the site and added all the files and screenshots onto the Doc 10/09 Found the files and added them to the doc 11/09/20 Making and finding out measurements to for the scaling of the wood 17 /09/20 Finding out how to implement the files onto the laserworks app 18/09/20 Looking for Mr Roscoe so we can learn about the wood cutting 24/09/20 This period we have been working on putting the files on the laserworks app.  25/09/20 Final Period of Term 3 finishing work on the log book. 15/10/20 On this day we were planning how we were going to use the laser cutter.  16/10/20 On this day we tried to figure out how the laser cutter works 22/10/20 We tried to get the laser cutter to cut our files but it didn’t work properly 23/10/20 We removed the watermark from the picture of our files so we could cut the wood with the laser cutter. 29/10/20 We got the outline to cut with the laser cutter but the lines were not straight enough so we spent the lesson trying to straighten the lines but were unable to get them straight enough to cut with the laser cutter  30/10/20 Update logbook and make a blog post

Personal Reflection:

I think I did alright but I definitely could have done better. I could've done better when it comes to getting into it faster each lesson because sometimes I just sat there and wasted time.

In the text, the relationship between Amari and Inan helped me to understand the character of Amari.

This is because it showed me that she is kind (she reaches out with love instead of anger), she is also forgiving (she forgives her brother), and she believes in her brother.

The incident of Saran cutting the word maggot into Zelie’s back helped me to understand the important idea of Prejudice because it showed me how far he would go to torture.	We see this in the text when  Saran says’s “I admire your defiance, child. It’s impressive you’ve made it this far. But I wouldn’t be doing my job as king if I didn’t remind you what you are.”	This means that King Saran is abusing his power as King to torture Zelie because she is different than him.	This made the reader feel Zelie because she is on the other end of a King abusing his powers.	It reminded me of another important part in the book when Saran killed Amari’s maid Binta because this also shows the idea of Prejudice.	In the real world, this idea is important because you shouldn’t treat someone differently because they are different than you.
Another way the incident of Saran cutting the word maggot helped me to understand the important idea from the other perspective because it shows us how vulnerable and helpless Zelie’s is when Saran is abusing his powers.	We see this in the text when	This means that…	This made the reader feel________ because _________.	It reminded me of another important part in the book when __________, because this also shows the idea of __________.	In the real world, this idea is important because ___________.

My key event is going to be everything that happens at the end during the solstice and how it affects Amari

My important character is going to be Amari

She became brave because she stood up to her father and killed him after realizing everything he did and was doing is wrong 

Market Day and Review

Yesterday we had a market day and my group sold pizza. This is my review on it,

 Three things we could improve on: We could have Made the pizza ourselves because it may have brung in more customers, Have the pizza be warm because there were some complaints about it being cold, Be more creative with our ideas because we basically just bought it and sold it and we could advertise our product more to bring more customers in.

Three things that went well: Our teamwork becausewe all shared being at the stall, We sold all of our products without advertising because we still sold out without people knowing about our buisness, we teamed up to promote another teams business which bought each team more customers.

Three Changes:

Better Advetisement to bring in more customers,

Better Customer Servise as we may of scared some customers away,

Make more product to sell because we sold out kind of fast.

Canterbury Research

 In Social Studies we have been learning about Canterburys History and Environment. One thing I like about Christchurch is all the opportunities there are.
